HS: What does your daily routine look like?

TL: I get up most every morning by four, and by eight thirty I’m ready to take my lunch break and hit the gym for an hour. The rest of the day is working on projects, fundraisers, and my regular job, making supper, playing with the dogs, and managing the house.

HS: How do you approach wellness?

TL: I guess like I do everything else – 150%. I’m always all-in. And I really started taking better care of myself and being more diligent with my diet and exercise as I have progressed in age.

HS: You’re very involved with different health-oriented organizations, from heart health to breast cancer to peripheral artery disease and more. Can you tell us why you feel so passionately about it?

TL: Health is something that affects all of us, regardless of economic status, race, etc. We’ve all seen those dealing with a crippling disease, with no place to turn in times of need. The organizations that I have been a part of support individuals when they may have had a hard time figuring out what to do or where to turn while making important, life-altering decisions.

HS: How do you encourage health and wellness within your family?

TL: We all started exercising at our gym. With the knowledge that we have gained from our trainers, it encouraged us to start thinking more of our own health. The boys help in the kitchen nightly, and we try to incorporate a lot of fruits and vegetables as well as grilling our food as much as we can.

HS: What traits do you most value in others and why?

TL: I truly value someone being upfront, straightforward, and honest with me. It never offends me to disagree; it is more important to know where you stand with someone, even though it may not always be what you anticipate.

HS: Where in life do you find the most purpose?

TL: With family and friends. I have a tight circle of friends that I really value, and it is your family who sticks by you and loves you no matter what. I am very fortunate to have my mom living in town with us and truly know that without her support, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. HS
