Essential Oils

Store bought moisturizers and skincare products are staples in almost every woman’s cabinet. But if you’ve exhausted your local cosmetic stores searching for the perfect skincare solution, or if you’re a beauty junky looking to discover the next best product, it might be time for you to test out some of nature’s essential oils.

If used correctly*,  plant-extracted oils show potential for helping to improve skin, from unclogging pores to soothing redness to reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Some of the most widely used oils include jojob oil, argan oil, pomegranate oil, and tea tree oil. Here’s what they’re used for, and how they may benefit you.

Jojoba Oil

It might have a funny name, but this oil from the seeds of the southwestern U.S. and northern Mexican shrub can soothe red, irritated skin. If you have dry skin, use it daily to lock in moisture, or keep it handy in case you accidentally over-exfoliate.

 

Argan Oil 

This multipurpose moisturizing oil is used to remedy parched hair, dry skin, and brittle nails. Using a few drops in the places you need it most can smooth and moisturize to create shining skin, hair, and nails.

 

Pomegranate Oil 

Pomegranate is a super healthy fruit to eat, but did you know that its oil can help fade skin’s fine lines and wrinkles? It’s also great for acne-prone skin, as it won’t clog pores and can brighten skin tone.

 

Tea Tree Oil  

It’s said that this oil from the leaves of the tea tree can help treat acne and other infections when applied to the skin. Another skin-healthy use is as a soothing antiseptic for cuts, bites, or burns.
