Ask the Doctor – Face Lifts

Q: What is the difference between a traditional and laser face-lift and how do I know which is best for me?

A: This is a great question and one patients ask me nearly every day in my practice at Southern Surgical Arts. With a laser face-lift, the cosmetic surgeon uses heat from a laser to release the skin of the neck and jowls and tighten skin with less down time and better results. A traditional face-lift does not add heat; rather, it relies on cutting and suturing the skin and muscle layers for the
aesthetic improvement. Both can produce good results if done by a qualified and skilled surgeon. To find out which option is best for you, visit a cosmetic or facial plastic surgeon in your area for an in-person consultation. You can review each surgeon’s before-and-after gallery to get an idea of the results you can expect.
