A Pap smear is a routine screening that checks for abnormal cervical cells before they have the chance to develop into cancer.  According to the Cleveland Clinic, women ages 21 to 29 should have a Pap smear every three years, while women ages 30 to 65 should be screened every five years. Staying up to date with screenings is one of the most effective ways to protect your long-term health.
