For Dry & Oily Skin
Skin types come in many forms, from super-dry to extra-oily. Luckily, there are some simple steps you can take to keep your skin looking its healthiest no matter where you fall on the spectrum.

1 :: Don’t skip steps. If your skin is dry, you might opt for a tinted moisturizer instead of a typical foundation. But in order to have truly moisturized skin that won’t dry out by noon, don’t forget to apply your everyday moisturizer too. No matter how moisturizing your foundation may be, it’s still important to double up by using your regular moisturizer.
2 :: Avoid matte.
Matte foundations and powders will suck oil from your skin. Instead, opt for a creamy foundation, blush, and concealer. The same applies when it comes to lipstick – those with dry skin should always choose a gloss or moisturizing lipstick instead of one with a matte finish that promises long wear, as these contribute to dry skin.
3 :: Make skin glow. If your skin is dry and dull, using products to create a healthy glow can make all the difference. Add a highlighter under your foundation for a reflective sheen. The best spots to highlight are the tops of cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and across the forehead.
4 :: Exfoliate.
Prime your face for makeup by gently exfoliating with a good face scrub. Your makeup will go on more smoothly if dry flakes are taken care of.
1 :: Invest in a primer. Makeup on oily skin has a tendency to slip and slide. A primer will help everything stay in its intended place. Use an oil-free primer after you’ve cleansed.
2 :: Look for long wear. Makeup labeled “long wear” is ideal for those with oily skin. From foundation, powder, and blush, to eye shadow and mascara, you can find long wear options that’ll last for an extended period – think throughout the work day and well into dinnertime.
3 :: Use brushes. You may have heard that the best way to smooth foundation into all the nooks and crannies is to use your hands, but if your skin is on the oily side, you’ll want to use makeup brushes. Your hands can spread oil-causing breakouts.
4 :: Use blotting sheets. Oil accumulates throughout the day, so by noon you might need a touchup. Carry blotting sheets that offer a light layer of translucent powder. These will lift the oil from your skin and give you a matte finish post-blot. Just blot the paper in the spots you need it the most – rubbing will smear makeup. There are lots of great brands to choose from.
