Smoothies are an easy solution for adding more protein and fresh (or frozen) fruits and veggies to your diet, plus, they’re an especially great way to cool off in the summer!
To make sure your smoothie is as healthy as possible, include a balance of fat, fiber, protein, and greens. You’ll also want to avoid too much added sugar from things like honey or maple syrup, flavored yogurts, fruit juice, and some nondairy milks. Here, two locals offer their takes on this nutritious and delicious treat.

“This is a personal recipe that I put together to help with inflammation, allergies, and to give my body something fresh and filling. Chia seeds are high in fiber and protein. The bee pollen is known to help with seasonal allergies and serves as an anti-inflammatory! The fruits were chosen to help with oxidative stress in the body and the pineapple helps increase dopamine levels! Plus they are perfectly paired to make the taste tropical and delicious.”
