Summer Bronze to WINTER GLOW

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall & Winter

Ditching your swimsuit and sundresses for your favorite sweaters and scarves isn’t the only change you’ll have to make when warm weather turns to winter. The same cosmetics that work wonders in the summer don’t always get the job done in the colder months. Here are a few ways to make the change.

Lighten your foundation.

One easy fix for lightening up your makeup for winter is to mix together a blend of half moisturizer and half foundation. Not only will this lighten up pigmentation, it will add extra moisture that your face likely needs. If this doesn’t work for you, trade your summer foundation for a tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone in winter.

Put a stop to smudging.

With higher collars and wrapped up scarves, clothes inch up much closer to our face in the wintertime. To keep makeup from smudging onto your turtleneck or wrap, set it in place with a translucent pressed powder.

Add more moisture.

Winter air dries the skin, causing it to look dull and chapped if you don’t take proper precautions. Start by switching your foam or gel face wash for a creamy cleanser. And don’t forget the rest of your body! Trade your lightweight body lotion with one that has a thicker texture in the winter.

Protect your hair.

Winter elements can also damage hair, so adding some extra steps to your beauty regimen between December and February is a must. Start by cutting shampoos down to about three washes per week, and treat your hair to a deep conditioning treatment once a week to replenish moisture.

Pick a perfect polish.

In spring and summer, sheer nudes and soft pinks are go-to polish colors. But when winter rolls around, deeper, daring shades can have their time to shine. Try a navy blue or a dusky gray to evoke nature’s wintertime hues. Just be sure you don’t forget to start with a protective base coat!

Swap gloss for matte.

Light lipglosses are chic for spring and summer, but a deep velvety matte lip looks sophisticated and stylish at holiday parties and family gatherings. As with nail polish, veer toward deeper tones, like a bold berry or maroon, in the winter. Finish with a protective lip balm to prevent chapping.
