Empowering the Athlete Within
Growing up as an athlete, Dr. Callie Lance has had her fair share of injuries. Through all of her time spent in doctors’ offices, Dr. Lance finally found a treatment plan that worked for her and became motivated to share it with those who live, work, and play in the Scenic City. “I hated going to the doctor growing up because I felt like I was just a number. Doctors didn’t really listen to what was wrong, or every time I went I got bad news,” says Dr. Lance. “It was never somewhere I felt empowered to better myself. I want to provide a space where people are given the tools and confidence to achieve their health goals.” A chiropractor for over five years, Dr. Lance prides herself in truly listening to her patients and taking a holistic approach – one that often combines rehabilitation, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and strength training.
Listening to the patient is the first and most important skill to possess as a doctor. Empathy allows for patients to feel comfortable telling you the real story, not just the highlights.”

1. What do you love most about your profession?
I love the vulnerability and trust it requires to give quality care – to really sit down and take the time to listen to my patients’ stories, not just their complaints. I have the opportunity and honor to establish a permanent relationship that allows for an empowering health journey through body and mind, not just treating symptoms.
2. What is one of your happiest professional moments?
My happiest moments are when I can celebrate my patients achieving their goals! Whether being able to tie their shoes without pain, keeping up with the kids, or completing an Ironman.
3. What is your best advice for patients?
Remember you only get one body to live in, so please nurture it. Slow down, be present (especially with loved ones), and most importantly, work on yourself. Health isn’t a privilege, it’s a priority
4. What do you see as the most exciting new development for your profession?
The increase in interdisciplinary practices and chiropractors being added into the hospital systems. This allows patients to have access to an entire health team that has open communication channels to provide the top medical care needed.
5. What’s the key to making a great first impression?
The key to making a great first impression is how you make the other person feel. Being kind, inviting, and confident are some of the key factors in my eyes.
