Meet Our Doctors – Dr. Susan Raschal

Covenant Allergy & Asthma Care

Making a Positive Impact

While in medical school, Dr. Susan Raschal became fascinated by immunology and asthma. She’s now using her passion to better the lives of her patients: “When a child with asthma brings in a photo of themselves excelling in a sport they love, or when I have a positive prayer experience with one of my patients, I know I’m in the right profession,” she says. “At Covenant, patients can expect compassion, empathy, and a deep knowledge of the subject matter, along with faith-based principles.” In her spare time, Dr. Raschal is on a mission to treat asthma on a much broader scale. “I’m involved with an asthma screening initiative where we perform asthma screenings in the school systems. The Lord has put it on my heart to implement these screenings in every school in the nation to help undiagnosed and undertreated cases.”

I’m at my happiest when we have a diagnosis and treatment plan that positively impacts my patients’ lives.”

1. What sets your practice apart?

We have a holistic approach to asthma and allergy care with a solution-seeking strategy. We don’t always believe that medication is the right answer, so we take a big-picture look at diet, exercise, hydration, and other natural approaches.

2. What do you love most about your profession?

That I can positively impact the lives of patients, especially children. Our profession provides evidence-based guidelines, protocol, and advances in the field of allergy and asthma.

3. What do you see as the most exciting new development for your profession?

Previously, we focused on treating symptoms. Due to advances in immunology, we can use targeted therapy to prevent airway inflammation.

4. What is your philosophy when it comes to the care of your patients?

I want to enable patients to be able to live a quality life so they can make the lives of others better.

5. What’s the key to making a great first impression?

A warm welcome, being a good listener, and making people feel special and important. At our practice, we offer telemedicine and text-based communication, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary snacks to form a good impression.
