Michael S. Kluska wasn’t your typical pre-med student at Washington & Jefferson College. In addition to learning biology and anatomy, he was also becoming versed in painting, photography, and sculpting as an art major. “With my unique background, it was a natural path to be in a profession where I can use my creative skill set along with my love for helping others,” Dr. Kluska says. Now a world-renowned plastic and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kluska has treated over 25,000 patients in his 20-year tenure – and he strives to bring each patient’s distinctive vision to life. “I believe that every individual is a unique work of art and recognize that plastic and cosmetic surgery is more than a science,” he shares. “They are a form of art that requires skill, patience, and an artist’s eye to achieve exceptional results.”

I experience happy professional moments on a regular basis by changing patients’ lives as they gain newfound self-confidence. Bringing out one’s inner beauty makes my profession so rewarding.
3. What do you see as the most exciting new development for your profession?
The evolution of stem cells is in its infancy. Once we get a greater grasp on how and why they work, stem cells will become the basis of all sound medical and surgical care not only within cosmetic surgery, but all of medicine.
4. What's the key to making a great first impression?
It’s my philosophy that if you greet everyone with eye contact, a smile, and a handshake, they will feel instantly welcome. I also pride myself on being genuine and transparent with my patients – it’s invaluable in establishing and maintaining a long-lasting, positive relationship.
5. What’s the best advice for patients?
Be realistic in your expectations when seeking cosmetic surgery to transform yourself into a ‘better you.’ You shouldn’t be trying to look like someone else.
