Meet Our Doctors – Dr. Martin Redish

Parkridge Bone & Joint

Customizing Care
for Every Patient

Dr. Martin Redish, founder of Parkridge Bone & Joint, has been practicing orthopedics in Chattanooga for more than 30 years. Over the course of his career, he’s had plenty of memorable moments – but one in particular stands out. “I will never forget the time a young man looked me up to thank me for helping him through a terribly severe accident that resulted in multiple broken bones. I put much effort into getting him through the accident, persisting, although no one thought he would survive. He left the hospital in a coma, and I never knew his outcome. He eventually got a job as a lineman climbing utility poles, and he wanted to find and thank me.” Dr. Redish’s commitment to find the best care solutions for each and every patient is evident. He says, “My patients see how I care about them and that I will do everything possible to figure out the best treatment approach.”

I love working with my hands and being in a speciality where I can help create better patient outcomes and improve lives."

1. What sets your practice apart?

We are kind to our patients and always consider non-operative, conservative measures first. When it comes to surgery, we are not afraid to use innovative and creative techniques.

2. What is your best advice for patients?

Keep moving and eat well to give yourself the best chances for good health and longevity.

3. What do you see as the most exciting new development for your profession?

I spent many years refining a minimally invasive approach to partial knee resurfacing that significantly reduces muscle damage and completely avoids ligament damage during surgery. I hope to make this approach the standard of care for many patients currently recommended for total knee replacements.

4. What accolades mean the most to you?

The gratitude of my patients. We measure our success one patient at a time.

5. What is your philosophy when it comes to the care of your patients?

I listen to patients, and I work with Mother Nature to do no more than necessary. Sometimes a minimal approach is the wisest choice.
