Understanding Periodontal Bone Loss

Periodontal disease ­– which affects the gums and bone ­– is far more common than you might think and, if left untreated, can develop into serious health issues. According to the CDC, 47% of Americans aged 30 or older have some form of periodontal disease, with 70% of adults 65 and older affected.

If the disease progresses, it can affect the tissues that support the teeth, causing tooth loss.
