It’s something we all want: a happier and healthier life. But how do you get there? Wouldn’t it require major lifestyle changes, a fancy diet, or lots of money? Actually, there are several – seven, in fact – things you can do at least once a week to make you feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally. Keep reading to learn more!




We are all aware of the value of exercise, which is beneficial to both the mind and the body. If you’re having trouble making time for physical activity because you’re content with your current size and shape, focus on your mental health. Exercise helps to regulate hormones, which can help with mood, hunger, and sleep. It increases endorphin levels and can protect you from a variety of ailments and disorders. Exercise should be a part of your weekly routine if you want to be happier, and it doesn’t have to be all about the calorie burn. Low-impact activities such as walking, swimming, and yoga can all be a part of a balanced workout regimen. Finding out what types of exercise programs, sports, and gym equipment you like most will help keep you interested and allow you to use your body in new ways.

Pamper yourself.

Weekdays are probably all about a quick shower before work every morning or in the evening before crashing into bed. At least once a week, shake things up by taking a hot bath. Apply a face mask, paint your nails, moisturize your skin, and steam your face. These small treats for your skin and hair can help to keep them in good shape – plus, they’re quick and easy to perform. Put on some music, light a candle, and use all of your favorite products. And, when you have time, visit your hairdresser and revive your balayage for blonde hair to give your self-confidence a boost.


Enjoy some fresh air.

So much of our day is spent indoors, our generation has been dubbed the “indoor generation.” While staying indoors most of the time may seem like a good idea because we are protected from the elements, it actually has negative consequences for our health. Indoor air can be full of allergens and pollutants, not to mention it can make you feel caged up. Stepping outside and inhaling some fresh air is incredibly beneficial; preferably, spend some time in nature. When you have free time, go to your neighborhood park, take a hike, or plan a family picnic. After work, you could sit in your backyard and soak in the sunset. Taking the time to head outdoors will lift your spirits, and you can even combine it with exercise to kill two birds with one stone.

Save some money.

Small savings targets can make a big difference, so try to save as much as you can at least once a week. Put all of your money in a jar, even if it’s just the coins in your pockets. What are you going to do with the few bucks you have in your bank account before you get paid again? Make a deposit into a savings account. It will make you feel accomplished, and these small amounts might add up to a lot over the course of a year.




Become more organized.

If it feels like life just gets busier and busier, getting organized is essential to ensure everything runs well. Start by spending a little time each week establishing to-do lists and arranging your calendar. You will know precisely where you need to be, you can buy whatever you need, and you can plan your time so that you don’t have to rush or panic at the last minute. This simple act can make you feel confident, prepared, and ready to tackle the week ahead.



Eat well.

Part of healthy living is eating sensibly. This means filling your plate daily with plenty of fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. While a balanced diet may seem dull on the surface, it’s anything but. Experiment with different herb and spice combinations, try a new cooking technique, or master a healthy recipe you find online. At least once a week, though, make sure to make room for the foods you love – food nourishes the soul as well as the body, and depriving yourself of your favorite dishes is no way to live.



Do something selfless.

Finally, helping others is not only useful to them, but it is also beneficial to you. Doing something thoughtful, no matter how small, is extremely fulfilling and supports you in spreading positive energy throughout the world. Bring your co-worker a cup of coffee, give a buddy a ride to the airport, or pick up food for your elderly neighbor. Once a week, try doing something nice for someone and notice how happy it makes you!
