3 Health Problems That Can Stem From a Lack of B Complex Vitamins

There are eight types of B vitamins that range from B1 to B12, and all of them are vital for good health. For example, vitamin B12 is essential for making red blood cells. Without enough vitamin B12, your body won’t have enough of these cells, which can lead to severe anemia.

Anemia is just one of the problematic symptoms of a B vitamin deficiency. In addition, a lack of B1 (thiamin) could cause the condition Beriberi – producing complications like numbness of the extremities and respiratory issues.

Fortunately, B vitamins are easy to include in your diet. They are found in many common foods such as dairy products, leafy greens, and fish. It’s important to make sure you’re eating a variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean meats, dairy, and healthy fats, so that you don’t develop the following health problems.

Back and Spinal Problems

A lack of calcium and vitamin D is known to cause issues with the bones, back, and spine. But a lack of specific B vitamins could also cause you to see your chiropractor. Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) has been the subject of intense study. Research conducted in 2000 concluded that B12 helps with lower back pain because it helps keep nerves and blood cells healthy.

If you’re concerned about your vitamin B12 intake, keep in mind that it is readily available through most diets. The richest sources of B12 include beef liver, clams, and fish such as trout and salmon, but it’s also found in poultry, eggs, fortified breakfast cereals, and milk. If you’re following a vegan or vegetarian diet, taking B12 supplements is an excellent alternative to changing your dietary requirements or lifestyle.

Loss of Energy and Focus

The vitamin B complex is widely known for its contribution to maintaining energy levels and concentration. This is why almost every health product for physical training, such as weight lifting, extreme exercise, and running, contains a high amount of specific B vitamins. Loss of energy and focus is a common issue today, and millions of people report feeling tired on a regular basis.

However, tiredness isn’t necessarily due to a lack of vitamins, and a variety of factors can cause fatigue. This could include a reliance on refined sugars, poor diet, a sedentary lifestyle, and inadequate protein intake. If you experience regular tiredness even though you eat well and exercise, you could have an absorption issue. In this case, strong vitamin B compound tablets are recommended.

Nerve Damage and Heart Failure

The most severe problems that vitamin B deficiency can cause include breathing issues and heart failure. These are the result of the long-term lack of specific B complex vitamins (chiefly thiamin) caused by the onset of Beriberi. Beriberi comes in two varieties: wet and dry. Wet Beriberi diminishes the heart and cardiovascular function, while dry Beriberi will cause extreme nerve damage that leads to paralysis and loss of feeling in the limbs.

Fortunately, Beriberi is easily treatable with potent vitamin B supplements in the form of injections and tablets. You can also improve your treatment with regular consumption of foods rich in vitamin B1 such as whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, pork, and seafood.
